Sawatdee Pee-nai (Happy new year)

Wow! And here we are in the new year again, it kind of feels like I'm not really sure how we got here... right?

Although it's quite scary how quickly 2015 flew past, I do always enjoy to look back over a spent year and plan for the next one.

It's exciting to wait in faith to see where God is going to lead us. Being a missionary, means a life of constant change, and we've certainly experienced a lot of that during these past 7 months, especially in Zion church. And though we see with mere human eyes and minds, God has far greater plans and purposes planned. They key is for us to trust Him in HIS WORD and HIS WAY way no matter what.

I'll share some more on this topic with you in our next post...

My sister-in-law, Chemone, joined us for the whole month of December, and we had a great time. It is such a pleasure to share our "Thai lives" with loved ones from home! I was enormously relieved that we didn't have to spend our first Christmas in the mission-field alone, and in fact, it turned out to be quite an unique one! We spent Christmas evening with Thai and Pakistani friends up on a roof, eating, laughing and eating some more until we couldn't keep our eyes open any more. And whether you would believe it or not, there was even a beef dish... yes beef... our first beef in 7 months! Shamim made the beef curry which we ate with naan bread and If you've never had her curry with naan, then you've never really had it at all... hahaha!

(Unfortunately our Thai friends arrived very late, only after we've taken the pictures.)

Speaking of yummy (and special) stuff... How can we possibly thank you all enough for the "care packages" you sent with Chemone. It made us feel so loved, and it is uplifting to know that we are still in your hearts and minds! Of coarse by now we've made a decent dent in the pile, but we've reserved certain items to only be used as close to their expiry dates as possible... hahaha!! We appreciate every hand-written letter, chocolate, handmade item and truly South-African delicacy!

We spent our 1st of January fasting and praying for every single family member, partner, friend and ministry. We thank God for the roles each of you play in our lives and we continue to keep you in our hearts and prayers!

May you be blessed exceedingly in 2016 and grow in intense closeness with our Heavenly Father.

All our love...
