The Light Shines In The Darkness

Johan preached on the 22nd of this month, and finished his series on what it means to be a Christian.  His sermon was about discipleship, and I dare say very powerful!

I believe it was the first time they heard the word 'discipleship' used in a way not referring to the 12 disciples that lived with and followed Jesus.  But as a word to describe what our entire walk with God should look like.  Leading a life of clinging to Jesus with all you have and surrendering completely to His will.  A life where your love for God and obedience to His commands dictates all your actions, thoughts, words and choices.  Ultimately leading us to the last command Jesus gave us before leaving this world, namely the great commission.

He reminded the church that they need not move across the globe to play their part in fulfilling the great commission, but simply needs to reach out to those around them.  Most of the church members are the only Christians in their entire family, between their colleagues and friends.

Living in a country with only 1.3% Christians is hard on believers.  You've almost no one to share it with and are experiencing different levels of rejection from society, especially the ones that matter to you most; your family.  We've come to learn that there resides a very lonely and depressing spirit on the believers, and sadly the missionaries as well.   As if they are a forgotten people, an endangered species.

This might sound like a terrible cliché, but I do believe this is partly from the lack of "light" in this dark corner of the world, as well as a tactic of the enemy.  You see, this spirit disables courage and growth in Christians, and tends to let them focus so inwardly that it never even crosses their minds to be concerned with the lost people around them.  I know we are all sinful and selfish creates and I am most certainly not blaming the 'spiritual world' for our own disobedience to God's instructions, but I am saying that the gloomy spiritual atmosphere here is so thick and heavy, you can almost cut it with a knife, and this has a tremendous impact on Christians.

Do yourself a favour and visit this link:  https://joshuaproject.net/countries/TH

Joshua Project (the above mentioned link) is a fantastic website that has all the countries of the world listed concerning their status with regards to being reached or unreached (with the gospel).  I can't possible describe how amazing this site is in one sentence (or even a few), so please have a look.

Thank you so much everyone at Koinonia, S.A that is praying for us and Zion Bangkok!!  After Johan's sermon, I shared with the church that you are praying for them, and that they are not alone in this fight!!  Many of them cried including the pastor that was translating.  You are blessing in this dark world!!

Love and blessings... xoxo
