September 2013

Welcome to our ministry blog, remember to check out Yolandie's blog at - http://familylamprecht.blogspot.com/.

On to a review of August 2013...

We have quietly gone about the program for this term (for more info check out July's post below) and we are suddenly finding ourselves within the last month of training for this year, scary!

As mentioned in the newsletter, we have enjoyed this past month extremely and have gotten some very different views of how to approach the life of a missionary.

The Kairos course was great and although it reinforced many already held beliefs God used it to move our hearts again for the lost of this world, the most important part of any training.  Next up was an introduction into the "creation to Christ" tool used by New Tribes Missions as they disciple and evangelise people groups.  This tool does exactly what it says and provides a holistic, complete introduction to the Bible from Genesis unto Revelation and thus placing the life and acts of Jesus Christ in the correct context.

Our graduation from the Kairos course

Pastoring in a third world country was next and the presenter Pastor Solly Solomons from Hossana Church in Hazyview gave us a great insight into how a missionary should influence and affect a society.  We spend the week at his church and saw a church helping the surrounding people with food, jobs and skills.  After this we got a crash course in basic health care, hygiene, dietary needs, self care, common health issues, bacteria etc. A lot of information and I got a copy of a book called "Where there is no doctor".  Check it out online if you are into that sort of thing.

Some practical ministry as part of our training

We ended the month of August working through Hesselgrave's "Cross Cultural Communication".  Although it was very academical the lectures kept it interesting with real life on field stories and we had many laughs, thanks to Spencer vd Walt and Werner Momberg our presenters both missionaries who have served in India and China.

We are very exited for our outreach during the months of October and November and we would really like to ask for your prayers regarding this.  Please pray for provision for this outreach as well as grace and guidance during this time.  Another prayer request mentioned in the newsletter is for guidance and obedience for further training in 2014.  Initially we were going to continue studying at ASM but due to a lack of interest they will not be able to train us and have given us some other options which we are praying about.

Have a great month of September and be assured that you are in our prayers continually.  For any spesific requests let us know via this site or on email - johantpa@gmail.com.

Blessings and love

Johan & Yolandie
