November 2013

Hi

Welcome to the Bangkok blog post.

We are four weeks into our six week missions trip and have had a great time here in Bangkok, Thailand.

The first few days were tiresome as we were recovering from jet lag after our 29 hour travel period. Our first church service was "interesting" and we enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts and started the process of trying all the different meals that is commonly served in Thailand.  We jumped into ministry and met many friendly people as we socialised with students, as our hosts Daniel and Genevieve Nihill are in the process of planting a church under university students.  All this whilst finding our feet of where to get what and what to eat and what not to and how to pronounce this word etc.

Everything in Thai culture happens around eating and in community.  We have found the Thai people very friendly (always smiling) but as mentioned in the newsletter very closed to the gospel.  In our goings about we have seen some strange things and have eaten interesting foods, to say the least.

Part of our ministry has been working with children in a very poor community.  We (through interpreters) shared bible stories with them, worshipped with them and prayed over them.  It was a real blessing to us and some of our best moments have come out of this time.  We have also taught English at churches in an effort to give back to the body of Christ and also using this as a way of evangelising non believers who could come to these free English classes.

We also visited a small churched to the south of Thailand (Rayong) and served there for a few days, encouraging local Christians and enjoying good times of fellowship and worship.  We also helped with their children's ministry and even taught them cricket and rugby (tried to....)

We have really enjoyed this missions trip so far and have met great people.  By the grace of God we also have had the opportunity to serve in many ways and want to thank you for making this possible.  With your prayers and support, we (us and you) have been able to advance the Kingdom of God to the nations.

Blessings, see you soon......
