Sawatdee Ka (good day) from a rainy Bangkok...

With only a few days left, our time here is quickly coming to an end.

It's quite ironic... the 1st week here is always extremely difficult and it seems impossible that you'd ever be able to adapt to the culture, food and terrible smells that hang around the city.  Week 2 is still pretty difficult but at least the worst of the culture shock and depression seems to be under control.  By week 3 things really start to get better and somewhere between week 3 and 4 you start to realize that by God's grace you'll be able to survive in this very foreign place.... and just as that happens...  you have to pack up and leave for home.... haha!!

But even though we've not had a lot of time here, we did get a lot of things done, and was able to investigate matters concerning our permanent stay in Thailand.  Unfortunately our full-time visas is still pending, we've went from having a definite yes to a definite no to a definite maybe..  Getting any full-time visa to Thailand is very difficult, so as we try every avenue possible, we have to stay patient and trusting God for His perfect timing in this matter.

But we can truly witness that God has done amazing things and opened impossible doors for us during these past 3 weeks.  We've been invited by church leaders (that we met last year) to another city, Hua Hin.  The pastor of the church there is (by the grace of God) very well connected in the community, and through him, a local University invited us to come speak to the students about God and Christianity.  Needless to say that both the University itself and all the students are Buddhists.  It was a truly amazing experience to share the Good News with people that has never heard about our (and their) Lord and Savior!!

We're also very happy to have been able to join up with Prasert's children's ministry, Zion church and the Australian missionary couple we've met last year.  It was tough to have been away for a year but it is truly inspiring to come back a year later and see that God has been busy and always so faithful to those that love Him.

We will be back in S.A on the 9th of December, so please feel free to schedule a braai or coffee with us.

May you have a blessed Christmas and rest well during the holiday season.

We met Nurse (real name Supalak) last year at Prasert's children's ministry which is situated in the old slums area of Bangkok.  Nurse grows up in a very abusive home. After spending a lot of time with her last year, she started to call us her mother and father.  We were delighted to see her again and she made us this lovely card...
