Long and sad good-byes 2013

WOW!! It's been almost an entire month since my last update, so sorry to all our disappointed blog viewers. It's really been a crazy few weeks and new year. So...  let's begin at the 5th of January, our last Sunday at our church, Koinonia.  It was such a special service since not only did our spiritual family say good-bye to us, but Johan had to serve the communion, and we also celebrated pastor Sonja's 40th birthday.  We decorated the church with some of her most favorite things... orange, gerberas and butterflies.

On the 9th of January we had a surprise party at Michael and Melissa's house.  It was a fun night filled with people we love and lots of yummy food.  Thanks again for all our friends, and a special thanks to Melissa, Lien and Noelien.  Your effort was greatly appreciated!!  (Julle is oulik hoor)!!

So... finally the BIG day arrived.  At 5 in the morning on the 11th of January we left for our new home in White River.  It was difficult as we drove out of Bronkhorstspruit knowing that we leave all our loved ones behind (and our doggies), but that season of our lives is over and the new one awaits.  Although we miss you all so much, and have serious adjustments to make, WE PRAISE GOD for this wonderful and very important opportunity to be thoroughly equipped for the mission field.  We wish to give God ALL the glory!!

To the Van Wyk and Davel family... We love and miss you!! Thanks for taking care of James...xx

To the Lamprecht and Hartog family... We love and miss you!! Thanks for taking care of Toto...xx

EVERYBODY... Take a good long look, because you'll almost definitely NEVER see me like this again... Haha!! As if our first week of adjusting and suffering from withdrawal from t.v and living in a one room house wasn't hard enough, ASM decided that good old boere-sport was in the order of the day, be sure to visit their facebook page to see some more photos of us in action...

Yeah yeah, laugh all you want...!!

During orientation week (our first week at ASM) we had a teaching about spiritual warfare out on Prayer Rock. It overlooks the entire valley, it was magical.  In the top left and right photos you can see ASM with the reddish rooftops.  In the top middle photo, you can see Daniel Grant which presented our teaching.

Now that we're all settled... I promised those of you who are so curious for some "before and after" photos of our new home.  Unfortunately I'm still waiting to get permission to paint, so for now... this is what our new flat looks like (or should I say bedroom)... Enjoy!!
